Hello fellow anglers
its mid-february here in the panhandle and fun is just around the corner.
we`ve been buisy as a beaver here-when the wind lays enough for us to get out. its been a cold winter , the coldest i can recall in a while , but the fish have still been chewing well.
We`ve been catching good numbers of bull reds in and around the pass , as well as some other spots.
Mostly on live bait but sometimes i like to just go with a half ounce jig with a white curly tail grub. You can cover more water that way , and sometimes we get into a big grouper , or a school of bonito or bluefish , ya just never know.
The speckled trout bite has been consistent , with this cold weather, the steam plant has been "on fire" . Here its catch and release , but it can be so much fun.
As the water warms, the fishing will really come alive. the pelagics will return , the sheephead will be here in march. Also, the cobia are a blast.
Shortly after that , the mackerel , king and spanish will show , and the flats fishing will come alive!!
OH BOY , if your an angler , you have to get exited about the upcomming opportunities.
All i can say is , come fishing with me and let me show you why the fishing here is second to none.
As always , i would like to thank god for all he has blessed me with, and our militairy for their support.
If you or someone you know has " special needs " or children that otherwise may not have the opportunity-PLEASE call me and let me take them fishing.im offering free or discount trips - depending on circumstance , for those who qualify. With bless-ed moon , its all about the blessings , and if i can share that with others , it makes my heart glad.
thank you
captain steve
